Así, por fin podemos disfrutar de este evento beisbolero que, no obstante, tiene sus particularidades que lo “alejan” un poco de beisbol tradicional, pues se aplican reglas como el Knockout (si un equipo va ganando por ventaja de 10 carreras arriba de la séptima entrada gana automáticamente el juego, y en la segunda ronda si la ventaja es de 15 luego de la quinta entrada); los pitchers pueden hacer hasta 65 lanzamientos en la primera ronda, 80 en la segunda y 95 en seminifales y finales; y si hay entradas extra los equipos comenzarán bateando con hombres en primera y segunda base.
Polémico por los permisos negados a peloteros o la declinación de algunos de ellos a participar, las sedes que dejan sin acción a países donde podría haber buena respuesta del público, las reglas especiales y los derechos de transmisión (los tiene MLB Network pero ésta a su vez los supedita a tener ciertos sistemas de tv), el Clásico Mundial no tiene otra arma para hacerse respetar que el buen beisbol, y justo es la oportunidad soñada para que peloteros desconocidos muestren su capacidad. Ya vimos lo que pasó con Daisuke Matsuzaka o Yu Darvish de los bicampeones japoneses.
